transcosmos Korea Acquires a Call Center Subsidiary of Interpark, a Major South Korean Internet Shopping Company

EC Support Services to be Reinforced with Interpark’s EC Management Know-How

transcosmos Korea, Inc. (Headquarters: Seoul, South Korea; President and COO: Takashi Sube; hereinafter, transcosmos Korea), a subsidiary of transcosmos inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and COO: Masataka Okuda; TSE First Section: 9715; hereafter, transcosmos) which mostly offers call center services in South Korea, has acquired Interpark CS, Inc., a subsidiary of Interpark INT (Headquarters: Seoul, South Korea; President: Don-Op Kim; hereinafter, Interpark), a major South Korean internet shopping company. The companies signed an agreement on December 24, 2012 and completed the acquisition process on December 31, 2012.

The overall market scale of South Korea EC market is approximately 36 billion won, with a speculation of a 10% annual growth in the future. (Source: South Korea Online Shopping Association) Interpark is the first corporation to launch an EC business in the South Korea market and is a general online shopping mall carrying various products. It is especially strong in the areas of books, event tickets, and travel sales, claiming a major share of the market.

transcosmos Korea is a No. 1 independent outsourcing company which runs call center business, direct mailing business, field service business, and digital marketing business in the South Korean market. Through acquisition of Interpark CS, Interpark’s call center with 300 workstations will be transferred to transcosmos Korea. In the future, transcosmos Korea would hope to strengthen its cooperation with Interpark further to provide EC support services utilizing platform, payment systems, warehouse, and distribution capabilities owned by Interpark.
